Normal butyl acetate, also known as butyl acetate and BUTAC, is a colourless liquid that has a fruity odour. The product is highly flammable with a flashpoint of 24°C. N-butyl acetate is commonly used as solvent in the production of inks, lacquers, paints and adhesives. It can also be used in the cosmetic and pharmaceutical industry, as an anti-corrosive agent and in cleaning and car care products.
