Amines

Amines are compounds that contain a basic nitrogen atom with a lone pair. They are derivatives of ammonia. Monoethanolamine (MEA) and Diethanolamine (DEA) are widely used for removing carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulfide from natural gas and refinery process streams. They can also be used to remove carbon dioxide from combustion gases and flue gases. Other applications are detergents, polishes, emulsifiers, surfactant and a corrosion inhibitor.
