Methyl ethyl ketone, also known as MEK and Butanone, is a clear colourless volatile liquid that is soluble in water. It has a mild, acetone odour. Methyl ethyl ketone (MEK) is commonly used as an industrial solvent for the paint and coating industry, such as lacquers, thinners, glues and paint remover. It is also used in the production of textiles, printing inks and plastics.
