Monoethanolamine (MEA) is een heldere, kleurloze vloeistof met een ammoniakachtige geur. Het is giftig, brandbaar en corrosief. Het wordt voornamelijk gebruikt als grondstof voor de productie van detergenten, poetsmiddelen, emulgatoren, corrosieremmers, farmaceutische producten en chemische tussenproducten.
